  David VillagomezDavid (1)

Archaeological Guide & Host

David has owned and operated multiple successful tour companies, including The Native Choice & Cozumel Choice, which focus on the history and culture of Mayan Civilization.

David is an expert in flora and fauna of the region, with extensive knowledge of medicinal plants received first hand from his grandmother who served Chacchoben as the midwife.

Cath BolthouseCath

Project Director

Cath’s practice in plant medicine and healing massage grew from her early years in Mexico, using medicinal plants and guidance from local healers.  In Maine, she continued her herbal studies, and along with her private practice, developed a successful massage program at Sugarloaf, USA, running front desk operations and creating spa retreats.

In 1991 she founded CARA, assisting Central American refugees detained in Harlingen, Texas.  During that period of human rights violations, refugees whose lives were threatened if deported were given asylum in Canada, after a waiting period in Maine.

Cath studied with Totonac healer and shaman, Don Guadalupe Munoz Lopez, beginning in ’95, documenting his use of medicinal plants and the old Mesoamerican ways.  Working with INAH, she developed immersion tours to share the rich culture of Papantla and Mesoamerica with others.

She dedicates the work she is doing with Mayan Choice to her beloved teacher, Don Guadalupe, and to the children.
